Shelby Michael Patton is a professional, award-winning Make-Up and Special Effects Artist based in Los Angeles, CA and a member of IATSE Local 706 Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild. She specializes in the creation and application of custom special make-up effects for film, television, and print. Her work has been featured on major motion pictures including 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' (Marvel Studios), 'Oppenheimer' (Universal Pictures), and 'Rebel Moon Part One' (Netflix). She has also worked on numerous television productions including 'Mayans' (FX Networks), 'Star Wars: Skeleton Crew' (Lucasfilm), 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' (E! Network), 'Fear the Walking Dead' (AMC), and 'Celebrity Undercover Boss' (CBS).

Shelby holds a BA in History and International Relations from Boston University, with concentrations in Film and East Asian Studies. Her critical essays on film have been published in academic journals both in the USA and abroad. She is also a former participant in the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET), where she lived and worked in Tokyo for two years. Upon her move to LA, Shelby has worked as a make-up artist, freelance costume designer, and an occasional guest and panelist at conventions around the country.
Shelby holds a Masters in Make-Up Artistry from the Make-Up Designory (MUD) in Burbank, CA, where she received her professional education and training in Make-Up, Hair, and Special Make-Up Effects. She has formal education, training, and experience in make-up for film and television, theatre, fashion, and avant garde make-ups. She is highly experienced in most aspects of creating custom prosthetic make-ups, including lifecasting, sculpting, mold-making (stone, fiberglass, silicone, etc), running silicone, foam latex, gelatin, and prosaide transfers, silicone and foam patching and seaming, fabrication, hair punching, wig styling and make-up application and painting.
Upon graduating from MUD, Shelby won 1st Place in the Battle of the Brushes Character/Prosthetic Make-Up Competition at the International Make-Up Artist Trade Show (IMATS) in Los Angeles, the largest and most competitive prosthetic make-up competition in the country.
